A Branson, Missouri man is facing serious legal consequences after pleading guilty to tax evasion involving more than a decade of unpaid taxes.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri, 43-year-old Burton Cummings admitted in federal court that he failed to pay over $825,000 in taxes between 2013 and 2024. With added interest and penalties, his total balance now exceeds $1.6 million.

In fact, he told IRS agents that he had no income—despite having taken substantial cash withdrawals from his businesses. He now faces up to five years in federal prison without the possibility of parole.
